In Work Package 5, proof-of-concept studies in children with focal CHI will be performed after validation of the light-activated treatment in adults. We will proceed the children’s trial in an identical strategy with the adult trials in work package 4. Again, we will focus on three steps of performing light-activated treatment: 1) in the removed pancreas outside the body of children with focal CHI, 2) inside the body of children with focal CHI who are scheduled for (partial) pancreas removal and 3) inside the body of children with focal CHI who are not scheduled for pancreas removal. All of these three steps will be commenced in parallel with the steps in the adult trials (Work Package 4).
