Work Package 9: Early Diagnosis of CHI

Work package 9 of the LightCure project will focus on the development of a diagnostic test for CHI. Early diagnosis of CHI would be a major asset for avoiding brain damage. We will focus on blood profiling of newborns with CHI to understand the composition of specific substances in blood. In addition, we will work on isolating extracellular vesicles from blood and urine of children with CHI and people with beta cell-related pathology. Extracellular vesicles are key mediators of intercellular communication, which can be used as a sign for information regarding your health (biomarker). The aim is to identify a CHI-specific signature in these vesicles, which can be used for early diagnosis of CHI.
